HOT5 Daily 1/3/2010

1. "Free Speech Still Threatened in Europe" And threatened is probably an understatement.

Representative Sample: It's not just lone fanatics, but governments that are getting in on the anti-free-speech game. Sadly, Ireland's new blasphemy law, which criminalizes the publication of matter "that is grossly abusive or insulting in relation to matters held sacred by any religion, thereby causing outrage among a substantial number of the adherents of that religion", has just taken effect.

2. "Who cares?"An interesting graphic breakdown regarding charity.

Representative Sample: It's a graphic.

3. "Solar Farm Held Up for Two Dozen Tortoises" Not content with blocking conventional energy construction, environmentalists even attack alternative projects.

Representative Sample: Just as windmills have been suppressed in the name of put-upon ground squirrels, a massive solar panel project is being held up on the grounds it might inconvenience a handful of reptiles.

4. "Spot the terrorist" Hmm. The latest terrorist was black and didn't have a beard, but still pretty funny.

Representative Sample: It's a graphic.

5. "Is Christianity A Mild Form Of Atheism?"Most atheists are probably familiar with this line of argument, but this is a nicely presented version.

Representative Sample: a Christian will disbelieve in all these gods even though there can be arguments and evidences from design or from revelation which are remarkably similar to the ones which the Christians readily deploy for their own god.
